What I read
I found a shocking news on BBC News. The topic is "SHINee singer Jonghyun: K-POP boy band superstar dies" So I decided to share with my teacher and classmates.

What it says
Jonghyun, a K-POP singer and accomplished dancer in SHINee band, committed suicide because of Major depressive disorder (MDD).

As usual when I read stories like this one, I wonder whether the social reactions to suicide are sensible. Is it really always so bad to kill yourself? Or might there be good reasons to end your own life?
ReplyDeleteAnd in the case of this K-pop star, was this good-looking young man who seemed very successful wrong to commit suicide? It does seem sad to me, as New points out, but is that a reason to think it was also wrong? Of course, I know almost nothing about his personal life.
Several other ideas come to mind, but perhaps others will take those up in their comments responding to New's post.
Not being a fan of K-pop, I had never heard of him or his band until I saw the story in the news a few weeks ago when it happened. What is his groups best song? Do you have a YouTube link to it that you can share?
ReplyDeleteI think his group's most famous song is Ring Ding Dong.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roughtzsCDI
DeleteI agree with peter and I also thought that is it time for social to think back for many views about celebrity life? Expectation to their favorite superstar is the good force for actor/actress to make a quality masterpiece to the public, but you need to care and be cautious on the degree of expectation, if too much, it will lead to make a lot of stress to superstar leading them to be depressed and low quality work. they will then determine to suicide. so, I think this is the important question that social need to ask again.
ReplyDeleteThanks you
